Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) is additional funding available for early years settings to improve the education they provide for disadvantaged 3 and 4 year olds. In Bedfordshire this is an extra 53p???? per hour on top of the universal funding for 3 and 4 year olds, for children whose parents/carers are in receipt of certain benefits or who have been in care or adopted from care. 

Early Years Pupil Premium is used to enhance the quality of education we provide for your child.  We have used it to fund external courses for staff to increase their knowledge and skills.

We also use EYPP to fund visits from farms such as, Herrings Green and Animal Ark so children can have hands-on experience of handling and learning about animals and further develop their vocabulary and language skills.

During the National Lockdowns in 2020 we used EYPP to provide additional staff, so we could keep our children safe in separate bubbles and provide high quality teaching input, particularly in speaking and listening. 

This year, 2023-2024, we are using EYPP to continue to support children's communication and language development with enhanced staffing and additional resources, such as new books, musical instruments and games.
